Award ceremony at the 4th International Workshop on Computational Phantoms for Radiation Protection, Imaging and Radiotherapy

ZurichMedTech sponsored the student awards at the 4th International Workshop on Computational Phantoms for Radiation Protection, Imaging and Radiotherapy, which was held May 20th to 22nd, 2013, at Technopark in Zurich, Switzerland. Three young IT’IS researchers were among the winners of the student prizes:

  • Manuel Murbach (on the picture), IT'IS/ETH PhD student, was awarded first place for his presentation entitled “Anatomical Human Models in Electrothermal Simulations for MRI Safety Evaluations”, and
  • Marie-Christine Gosselin, also a PhD student at IT’IS/ETH, took second place for her talk on “Development of the Next Generation High-Resolution Anatomical Models: The Virtual Population 3.0”.
  • In a three way tie, Livia Gerber of the IT’IS Virtual Population segmentation group shared third place for a poster contribution entitled “The Making of the Virtual Population 3.0: Image Segmentation and Surface Reconstruction” with Ara Yeramian of the University of Freiburg for his oral presentation entitled “Generating Anatomical Human Head Model for Specific Absorption Rate Estimation in Parallel Magnetic Resonance Excitation” and Amy Geyer of the University of Florida for her talk on “The UF/NCI Family of Hybrid Computational Phantoms Representing the Current U.S. Population of Adults and Pediatrics – Applications to CT Dosimetry”.

Congratulations to all the winning young scientists!
