X-TRA, X-TRA! Inaugural Zurich43 Party: X-TRAordinary Nine = X-TRAordinary Fun!

X-TRA, X-TRA! Inaugural Zurich43 Party: X-TRAordinary Nine = X-TRAordinary Fun!

The X-TRA at Limmatplatz, one of Zurich’s top concert venues, was the site of this year’s Z43 annual post-holiday party. The event celebrated the emerging Z43 corporate identity, highlighting the many entities and the global reach of the Z43 brand. As invitees were encouraged to dress in the yellow, red, and blue of the companies' logos, the scene was a glorious palette of primary colors.

The evening started in the X-TRA lobby with cocktails and a selection of international finger foods. The hit of the hour was the fish-n-chips, served with malt vinegar and “mushy pea” mayo in newsprint wrappers touting Z43 fake news stories.

X-TRA’s majestic main concert hall, set with five long tables, was the site of the rest of the evening’s action, an internationally inspired feast composed of courses representing the home countries of the Z43 group. The first course – a deluxe South Korean hot pot with Chilean seabass, rice, vegetables, kimchi, and dashi – was followed by an American classic mini bacon cheddar-burger, and a third course featuring Indian vegetable curry over basmati rice with mini naan flatbreads and yoghurt. The main course was all Swiss – succulent pink filet mignon of veal in truffle mousse served with Appenzell button mushrooms and alpine potato rösti. A delectable vegan version was offered at every course.

The lights then went down for an action movie trailer send-up spotlighting the X-TRAordinary nine and the main actors – Fin Bomholt, Nik Chavannes, Jacqueline Pieper, Henner Kisker, Katja Pokovic, Y. B. Song, Nitin Jain, and Mike Summerfield – who have contributed so much to making Z43 what it is today. The evening’s X-TRAordinary host, Niels Kuster, then took the stage, dramatically flinging aside his sling, for his traditional state-of-Z43 update and gentle roast.

The dessert course – small irresistible portions of vanilla parfait, crème caramel, brownies, blondies, citrus fruit and sorbet cups, carrot cake, passionfruit mousse, and Felchlin Grand Cru chocolate cake – was brought around on trays, along with offerings of select international treats on tiered serving plates.

The party continued with dancing to music of the rock band Tin Soldiers, who were joined for a few numbers on drums by Jack Summerfield. Die-hard partiers were treated to flying midnight snacks of “Wiedikerli” mini bratwursts with spicy mustard and crusty burli rolls and vegan falafel-tzatziki pitas.

The party was an X-TRAordinary success thanks to the impeccable planning by Jacqueline Pieper and her team, the scrumptious food and pitch-perfect service of Franzoli’s catering, and the great location. Once again, many thanks to all of the fabulous people who joined us to share an unforgettable night!
