Simone was born in Italy in 1981. He earned his PhD (Dr.sc.nat.) in Computational Astrophysics at the University of Zurich, working on hydrodynamic simulations of galaxy formation and supermassive black hole evolution. His publications include the Eris simulation, which for the first time succeeded in reproducing many characteristics of our own Milky Way in a cosmological context.

He later was a Postdoctoral Researcher and then Oberassistent in Computer-Assisted Paleoanthropology at UZH, developing HPC agent-based models of prehistoric human populations during the last Ice Age, in collaboration with the Swiss National Supercomputing Center.

He joined ZMT in December 2018, where he has been working on the development of Sim4Life and other software products of the Zurich43 Alliance, on tasks ranging from frameworks and user interfaces to algorithms and performance.
