Renown scientists will talk about advancements in computational modeling and simulation for optimized electroceuticals and personalized treatments.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Dr. Marco Capogrosso (University of Fribourg, Switzerland), whose research focuses on computational models for the implementation of real-time technologies able to restore e.g., sensation in human amputees and brain-controlled locomotion in non-human primates after spinal cord injury. Dr. Capogrosso is one of the leading scientists in the European RESTORE project. At the workshop, he will illustrate why a dedicated computational framework is instrumental for the successful design and optimization of neurotechnologies.

Advanced in silico methods and high-resolution neuro-functionalized computational anatomical models are key to accurate modeling for the design and optimization of neurostimulation devices. Dr. Antonino Mario Cassara and Dr. Silvia Farcito (IT’IS Foundation, Switzerland) will provide insights into their research and will demonstrate how ZMT’s unrivaled multi-physics simulation platform Sim4Life together with the IT’IS’ Virtual Population supports scientists and engineers in the field of neurostimulation.

The Open Online Simulations for Stimulating Peripheral Activity to Relieve Conditions (o2S2PARC) project is part of the NIH SPARC initiative that focuses on understanding peripheral nerves and how their electrical signals control internal organ function. The aim of o2S2PARC is to develop an interactive, open-access, and user-friendly online simulation platform that facilitates the integration of organ models and simulation of nerve-organ interactions within the complex environment of the body. Dr. Esra Neufeld (IT’IS Foundation) will provide an update on the latest achievements and an outlook on how this ambitious project will continue in its second year.

Théo Lemaire (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland) will talk about new methods that can help to understand and optimize ultrasound-based neuromodulation, and the importance of acoustic propagation simulations.

The event will be concluded with a presentation by Dr. Habib Bousleiman (ZMT) on selected features of upcoming Sim4Life releases, and how this will address future technological challenges in bioelectronic medicine.

All workshop participants will be offered a light dinner during the workshop.

Registration to the workshop is open and free of charge, but space is limited, and seats will be allocated on a “first come, first serve” basis. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at s4l-sales@zmt.swiss to register by email.

We look forward to welcoming you in San Diego at our workshop and at Booth #3825 where we will showcase our latest developments!
