AUDEN Technology Corporation, ZMT, and Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG) have conducted their popular annual hardware and software workshops in Taipei/ Taiwan, as well as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen/ China in May 2018.
Our Z43 sales channel AUDEN for China/Taiwan did a great job in organizing four intense days packed with presentations, workshops, and social events, including a live English-Chinese translation service for the workshop attendants. Overall, approximately 250 engineers and scientists from leading companies, universities, and government institutions attended the event, making it one of the most successful workshop series over the years.
The workshops provided an excellent opportunity to unleash Z43's latest innovations and product updates for electromagnetic safety assessment and medical applications, and to reveal our vision for future technological advances in 2018 and beyond.
The event featured welcome addresses by SPEAG’s President Prof. Niels Kuster and Auden’s CEO Daniel Chang. Highlights included keynote speeches given by Profs. Ruey-Beei Wu and Ding-Bing Lin (National Taiwan University) in Taipei, Prof. Yi Xie (University of Science and Technology of China) in Beijing, and Director Ling Ying (Shanghai East China Telecommunication Research) in Shanghai.
The morning sessions, presented by Niels Kuster, Dr. Mark Douglas, Dr. Sven Kühn, Dr. Fin Bomholt (the last two via video conference), and Dr. Jingtian Xi focused on trends in international standards/ regulation and the latest hardware solutions for telecommunications and mobile telecommunications equipment. It featured overviews and demonstrations of SPEAG's new 5G-ready system for measurement of power density at millimeter wave frequencies, as well as DASY Software Version 6.8 including the Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) updates and cSAR3D-A (w/ robot-based positioning). Additional highlights included novel EM Phantoms for over-the-air (OTA) testing of body-worn devices (e.g., POPEYE-V10, face w/ exchangeable eyeballs), MAGPy, a new system for assessment of wireless power transfer (WPT) exposure, and ICEy V3 – featuring optical technology w/ radiofrequency-transparent assessment for 5G compliance, mmWave antenna near-field and radiation performance.
The afternoon sessions presented by Dr. Nik Chavannes, Dr. Erdem Ofli, and Ms. Aiping Yao concentrated on SPEAG’s and ZMT’s software simulation solutions, namely the latest releases SEMCAD X Matterhorn V17.0 and Sim4Life V4.0. Highlights included a live-demonstration of the platform’s new multi-parameter multi-goal optimizer as well as recent developments in high performance computing. Dedicated sessions outlined recent features and advances for numerical safety assessment of active and passive implants – introducing IMAnalytics V1 and IT’IS Foundation’s MRIxViP, an update on computable phantoms/ ViP, and our novel specialized software solutions for 5G and WPT system optimization. An outlook given for the software roadmap featured the new unstructured FEM solver to be released by the end of October 2018.
The event concluded with vivid discussions, customer feedback, and with the ever-popular raffle. We would like to thank all participants of this year’s workshop series for contributing to the success of the event, and are greatly looking forward to welcoming you again next year.
